Terms of use
These terms apply to the Cinevarium website (https://test.cinevarium.com) and the Cinevarium mobile app (together "the service"), run by Ali FINDIK as a non-commercial hobby project ("we"). By creating an account you accept these terms and the privacy policy.
1. The service
Cinevarium lets you rate films and series by criteria of your choice and write reviews of them, keep a watched list and a watchlist, find titles by the criteria that matter to you and share your lists with friends. The service is free of charge. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time and will try to give notice of significant changes.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- You need a working email address. Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
- One account per person; do not pretend to be someone else.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time in the app or at https://test.cinevarium.com/Account/Delete.
3. Your content
You keep the rights to what you create on the service: your scores, your reviews, the criteria you add, your "about me" text and your display name. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, show it to the people your visibility settings allow and include your scores in community averages, for as long as the content is on the service. You also allow us to use your scores in aggregated form that cannot be linked to you (the average and the number of scores per title and criterion) to calibrate and train the model that produces the AI scores; your individual scores are never fed into the model without the separate permission described below, and your account data never is. Criteria you add become part of the shared criteria list used by everyone and stay there after you delete your account, without any link to you.
Reviews. You can write one review per title; a short comment is as welcome as a long review. For each review you choose who can see it: only you, your friends or everyone. With everyone, the review appears on the title's page, also to visitors without an account. Mark reviews that give the story away as spoilers. If you ask for it, we prepare criterion score suggestions from your review with a language model we run outside the service. Suggestions are shown to you only, are estimates, and do not become your scores unless you accept them (changed if you like).
Model permission. If you also allow it in your profile settings, we use your reviews and the scores you gave the same titles, whatever their visibility, to improve the scoring model (training and measuring it) and to produce AI scores. This permission is off by default and can be withdrawn at any time. The text of your reviews is not published anywhere this way, and neither your name nor your account data goes into the model.
4. Rules
You may not:
- use offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening, defamatory or illegal words in your reviews, criterion names, your display name, username or "about me" text, or harass other users in any other way;
- fill a title's review with content unrelated to the title, advertising or spam;
- post content you have no right to use, or other people's personal data;
- access the service with automated tools, scrape, copy, bulk-download or resell its data, or use it to build another database or product;
- try to bypass security, rate limits or other users' visibility settings, or interfere with the service.
We may remove or edit content that breaks these rules, rename, merge or hide criteria, and suspend or close accounts, with or without notice. If you see content that breaks the rules, use the report function@if (email is not null) {
The collection of scores and the criteria list is a database we invest in and is protected as one (Turkish Law No. 5846, Additional Article 8, and equivalent database rights elsewhere): extracting or re-using a substantial part of it is not allowed.
5. Scores and "AI" scores
Community averages come from the scores of users. Scores marked AI are produced outside the service by a language model we run, from critical-reception summaries published on Wikipedia; they may also be produced from the reviews of users who allow it. They are estimates and can be wrong. They are not the scores of any publication, critic or rating website and carry no endorsement by any of them. They count in the averages with a reduced weight that shrinks as more users score the title. All scores are for information and entertainment only and are not advice of any kind.
6. Third-party content
Film and series information and images come from The Movie Database (TMDB) under its API terms. This website uses TMDB and the TMDB APIs but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise approved by TMDB. The critical-reception texts used to produce AI scores come from Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0). Cinevarium is not affiliated with TMDB, Wikipedia, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic. Posters and other images belong to their owners; if you hold rights to content shown here and object to its use, write to us and we will remove it.
7. No warranty, limited liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty, as a hobby project without paid staff. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for any loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service, including lost data. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes and termination
We may update these terms. The current version with its date is always at https://test.cinevarium.com/Terms, and material changes are announced on the website and in the app; if you keep using the service after a change, you accept the new terms. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time; we may close accounts that break these terms.
9. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Contact: Ali FINDIK, info@alfion.com.tr.
